Video Poker is a popular game that can be wagered on in casinos around the globe, or in your house on your computer, through an Internet connection. The regulations are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to achieve the best combination of cards achievable in order to win money. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the enthusiast inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players should now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.

After the player has selected which cards he or she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be given out. The round is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.

Typically, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can vary from game to game, so that knowledgeable players are agile enough to select the most beneficial ones each and every time.

Once the first round has completed, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few versions of the game give the gambler a chance to increase their profits, in which case a further hand is played. There are also variations between individual machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
