Video Poker is a beloved game that is able to be gambled on in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your personal computer, using a net connection. The game rules are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to achieve the greatest assemblage of cards as you can in order to win cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a classic game of poker, without the involvement with other players. The game of Video Poker begins when the player puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the play button. A hand of 5 cards will be "dealt" on the video screen.

The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and players will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.

After the bettor has selected which cards she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be dealt if desired. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.

Typically, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that discerning players are able to select the most beneficial ones each and every instance.

Once the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to continue on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Additionally, some versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to increase their wins, in which situation another round is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
