Video Poker is a beloved game that can be wagered on in casinos across the globe, or alternatively at your house on your PC, through a web account. The game rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best mixture of cards achievable in order to win cash. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, apart from the line of contact with competing players. The game of Video Poker starts when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of five cards will then be electronically ‘handed out’ on the screen.

The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and players should now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. Generally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payment schedule can change from game to game, so that skillful gamblers are able to select the most money-making machine every time.

After the first round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Further, several versions of the game give the player a chance to double their profits, in which instance a further round is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
